Destressed

An interesting 'new' term ('new' for me anyway) has entered the design arena lately - destressed implies something that has been eroded & worn, it has taken a step back from its former glory.  I thought this was a perfect example of a destressed door, destressed by time & wear, not chemicals.

The Gates of Hell

The Gates of Hell is a work sculpted by Rodin, it currently stands in the Musee de Orsay in Paris and is based on the characters of Danté's Inferno.  I find this piece fascinating, the longer you stare at it, the more intricacies you discover.  Here are two close-up images of various scenarios found in the work, which is much larger & detailed than one would imagine.

Bottle Wall

This is a rather interesting tequila & Jagermeister bottle wall which I found in a backpackers near the Amphitheater in the northern Drakensberg.  It really added a nice atmosphere to the lounge area.

Trapped

An abstract of an autumn leaf trapped in a clump of grassy reeds - simple, but nice.

Japanese Fountain

A Japanese drinking fountain in Kyoto, outside a Shinto Temple.  This is another scan from Velvia slide film, taken more than a decade ago during a business trip to Japan.

Tomatoes

This is probably my favourite fruit, berry & vegetable (or d. All of the above) - the vine ripened tomato.  So versatile and a key ingredient in so many dishes.

Two ceilings of medieval buildings, I love this style and workmanship.

Semi-Precious

We found a scratch patch in Clarens (Orange Free State - Northern Drakensberg) and I thought I'd snap this image of semi-precious stones (nice name for a band actually!)

A dream catcher in an African enameled tin cup restaurant near Port St. Johns, Wild Coast - the crockery isn't my style but the breakfast & setting was superb.

Roses are Red

Red is one of the most difficult colours to reproduce accurately, be that in print or on screen.  This is one of the first images taken with my new Pentax K7, all things considered it is a superb dslr.  I believe the results speak for themselves.

Honey

Farm fresh honey from our own hives, sweet and golden - apparently this is the only natural product which does not go bad......so by that thinking it must be good for us?
